What a single supplement really means
How to recognise the difference between a solo fare and paying for two.
Most cruise prices are quoted per person, based on two people sharing a cabin. If you travel alone in that same cabin, the cruise line usually charges a “single supplement” — an extra amount for the empty second place.
What it means in practice
With a supplement applied, one person can end up paying close to the price of two. A genuine solo fare or a dedicated solo cabin is different: the price is set for one person from the start.
How to tell the difference
Compare the total one-person price, not the per-person headline figure. The listings on this site show observed one-person prices where the data supplies them, so the number you see is what a solo traveller is asked to pay.
